The Bowling Alley
In this scene, I took full ownership of the level layout, where I crafted a compelling environment to mark Max’s return. My focus was to design engaging gameplay that would stand out despite the absence of Max’s powers early in the story while tutorializing the player on how the game works. To achieve the ideal layout, I greyboxed three different versions, each with unique dimensions, carefully iterating to capture the scene’s essence.
I also established sightlines for key narrative beats and emphasized focal points, like the overhead sculpture, to guide the player. Additionally, I handled cinematic prototyping, using our proprietary toolset to develop preliminary cutscenes. This included setting up foundational camera angles and staging with T-pose models, which provided a solid framework for the final artistic pass by the team.
